The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the accreditation process for Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers that will be used for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This move is part of JAMB’s ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient examination process for all candidates.
Accreditation Standards
JAMB’s accreditation process is designed to evaluate the readiness of CBT centers to handle the technical and administrative demands of the UTME. Centers must meet specific requirements, including:
- Functional Equipment: Centers must have a minimum number of functional computers with reliable internet connectivity.
- Power Supply: A backup power source, such as a generator or inverter, is mandatory to avoid disruptions during the examination.
- Security Measures: Adequate security, including surveillance cameras, must be in place to ensure the safety of candidates and exam materials.
Application Procedure
Prospective CBT centers interested in becoming accredited for the 2025 UTME are required to submit a formal application. Applications should be addressed to the Registrar of JAMB and submitted through the Zonal Director or State Coordinator in their respective states. This process ensures that only credible and capable centers are approved for the exercise.
Mandatory Autobot/Autotest
As part of the accreditation process, all centers must conduct an Autobot/Autotest. This test is a critical step to ensure the center’s technical infrastructure is up to standard. Centers that fail to successfully complete this phase will not proceed to the next stage of accreditation.
Physical Accreditation to Begin in December
JAMB has announced that physical accreditation of CBT centers will commence in December 2024. Only centers that meet all requirements and pass the preliminary stages will be invited for this exercise. Notifications regarding the specific dates and guidelines for the physical inspection will be sent to qualifying centers.
Commitment to Excellence
This initiative underscores JAMB’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the administration of its examinations. By ensuring that CBT centers are fully equipped and meet strict requirements, JAMB aims to provide a seamless experience for candidates, minimize technical issues, and uphold the integrity of the UTME.
CBT centers are encouraged to adhere strictly to JAMB’s guidelines to increase their chances of accreditation. Candidates and stakeholders can expect further updates as the process unfolds, ensuring transparency and preparedness for the 2025 UTME.
