As part of its yearly Ecobank Day, Ecobank Nigeria, in partnership with Opolo Global, launched a program to empower schools in Lagos, focusing on essential learning skills powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
This year’s theme, “Ignite Learning with AI,” centered on boosting literacy, numeracy, and digital skills for young students, starting with a special session at Zion Star School in Lagos.
Oluwafemi Ajayi, Head of Product Development and Lagos Operations at Opolo Global, praised Ecobank’s commitment to preparing students for the future with hands-on training in AI and robotics. “We’re teaching children the skills they need to succeed in a digital world,” Ajayi said, adding that AI has enormous potential to improve learning and support smart decision-making in both education and business.
The initiative also aims to reach more schools across Lagos, especially those in underserved areas, giving a greater number of students access to these crucial skills. Ecobank highlighted that early literacy, numeracy, and digital learning set a strong foundation for children, opening doors to more opportunities in education and careers.
On Ecobank Day, bank employees volunteered across Nigeria, offering literacy lessons, mentorship, and support to schools in need. They also teamed up with Opolo Global to enhance digital resources, creating a lasting impact on communities.
Since its start in 2013, Ecobank Day has backed several social causes across Africa, from youth education and malaria prevention to tech upgrades in schools and financial literacy programs, all aiming to make a meaningful difference for future generations.
