In an exciting move to uplift women entrepreneurs across Africa, Access Bank has rolled out its “Power of 100 Africa” initiative. This program, announced in Lagos by the bank’s Deputy Managing Director, Chizoma Okoli, is dedicated to supporting 100 women business leaders across 16 African countries, aiming to create lasting positive impacts in their communities.
Okoli explained that the initiative reflects Access Bank’s commitment to empowering women and fostering leadership on a continental scale. “We believe this program will not only support women entrepreneurs but also inspire the next generation of female leaders across Africa,” she shared.
The “Power of 100 Africa” initiative will reach countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia. The program celebrates women who are trailblazers in their fields, overcoming challenges and driving change.
Access Bank’s Group Head of Women Initiative, Abiodun Olubitan, highlighted that female entrepreneurship is essential for Africa’s economic growth, and supporting these women is a key step toward sustainable development.
Managed by Utobong Hughes of Andersen Nigeria, the program’s nomination process is open to the public, allowing anyone to nominate a woman they believe has made significant contributions to her community.
Nominees should be women who have set new standards in their industries, influenced others, or positively impacted their local areas.
Omosalewa Fajobi, a Non-Executive Director at Access Bank, emphasized that the initiative is not just about recognizing achievements but also about inspiring young women across Africa to pursue leadership roles.
“We want to encourage young African women to dream big and lead impactful lives,” she stated, underscoring Access Bank’s commitment to a brighter future for women in business.
Through “Power of 100 Africa,” Access Bank is creating a network of empowered female leaders, championing economic progress and inspiring communities throughout Africa.
