The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is a key program by the U.S. government, designed to support and empower Africa’s future leaders.
The Accra Regional Leadership Center (RLC) in Ghana is one of several centers across Africa, providing hands-on leadership training to young leaders from nine West African countries, including Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, and others.
Hosted by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the Accra RLC offers dynamic training for individuals dedicated to improving their communities and driving change.
What YALI Offers
The YALI Accra RLC offers specialized leadership training across three tracks:
- Business and Entrepreneurship: Ideal for emerging entrepreneurs looking to create and expand businesses within Africa’s private sector.
- Civil Society Management: Focuses on those involved in civic engagement or working with NGOs, community organizations, and volunteer programs.
- Public Policy and Management: Designed for individuals who work or aspire to work in government or international organizations like the United Nations, fostering skills in public policy and governance.
Participants will gain essential tools, networking opportunities, and guidance to make a greater impact in their fields. This is an opportunity to learn new skills, develop a support network, and take meaningful steps toward community and national transformation.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be 18 to 35 years old
- Be a citizen of Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, or The Gambia
- Be proficient in English
- Show demonstrated leadership skills in Public Policy Management, Business and Entrepreneurship, or Civic Leadership
