Category of Awards

  • Host Communities Merit Award: This award is only for students who are indigenes (native inhabitants) of communities where NAOC has operations in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Imo States.
  • National Merit Award: This award is only for students studying Engineering, Geology, Geosciences, or Agricultural Science.

Who Can Apply

  • You must be a Nigerian citizen.
  • You must be a registered full-time undergraduate student at a Nigerian university.
  • You must be a 100 level student (i.e., you just started your studies in the 2023/2024 academic year).
  • Only Indigenes of NAOC Host/Transit Communities in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Imo States SHOULD apply for the Host Communities Merit Award.Only applicants studying Engineering, Geology, Geosciences and Agricultural Science are eligible for the National Merit Award.

NOTE: The following categories of students should not apply:

  • Students who are already in their 2nd year (200 level) or higher are not eligible.
  • Students who are currently receiving scholarships from other companies or organizations cannot apply for this scholarship.
  • Dependants of employees working for NAOC, NAE, AENR, or NACPFA are not eligible.

Required Documents

  • Passport photograph (recent, white background)
  • Your university ID card
  • Your O’level certificate (the certificate you received after completing your secondary school education)
  • Your university admission letter
  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of your Local Government Area of Origin (a document that shows which part of Nigeria you are from)
  • For Host Communities Merit Award applicants only:
  • A letter from your community’s Paramount Ruler (traditional leader)
  • A letter from your community’s CDC Chairman (Community Development Committee Chairman)
  • JAMB Result (the result of your entrance exam for Nigerian universities)

How to Apply

The application process is completely free. There are no application fees.
Applications must be submitted online through the Scholastica platform, which is the official website for this scholarship. Be cautious of fake websites that might ask you to pay for the application.


Selection Process

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to take a proctored (supervised) computer-based test. This test may be conducted online or at a designated test center. You will be able to choose your preferred testing method during the application process.
