A recent study by EpicVIN, a vehicle history report company, has ranked car brands based on their involvement in fatal accidents. Tesla was highlighted as one of the top ten brands with the lowest rate of fatal injuries in reported crashes.

EpicVIN used data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) covering vehicle crashes from 2017 to 2022. They examined the percentage of fatal accidents involving serious injuries and ranked brands from lowest to highest based on these percentages.

According to the study, Tesla was the third least likely car brand to be involved in fatal accidents. Out of 490 Tesla occupants in fatal crashes during this period, 141, or 28.78%, suffered fatal injuries.

Land Rover followed Tesla with a fatal injury rate of 23.65%. Among 575 Land Rover occupants in fatal accidents, 136 had fatal injuries. Ram had the lowest rate, with only 18.68% of its 5,593 occupants in fatal crashes suffering fatal injuries.

EpicVIN’s CEO, Jurgis Plikaitis, commented on the findings, noting that while larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks might be expected to perform better in high-speed crashes, it’s interesting to see brands like Audi and Mercedes-Benz also on the list.

Plikaitis emphasized that driving safely, wearing seatbelts, avoiding impaired driving, and maintaining your vehicle are crucial for safety on the road.
