Fully Funded Dash Scholarship at University of Ghana 2024


The University of Ghana is offering a scholarship program called the Dash Scholarship for the year 2024. This scholarship is open to Ghanaians who want to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD) in Adolescent and Young Adult Health.

About the Scholarship Program

The Dash Scholarship is a collaborative effort between the University of Ghana and other universities and research institutions from several African countries (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda) as well as Germany. This scholarship program is part of a larger research project called “Research Network for Design and evaluation of Adolescent Health Interventions and Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa (DASH)”.

The main goal of the DASH project is to improve the health and wellbeing of adolescents and young adults in sub-Saharan Africa. By providing scholarships for postgraduate studies in Adolescent Health, the program aims to train future researchers and professionals who can design and implement effective interventions and policies to address the health challenges faced by young people in the region.



If you are a Ghanaian citizen who is passionate about improving the health of adolescents and young adults, you are encouraged to apply for the Dash Scholarship. Here are the specific eligibility criteria:

  • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of Ghana.
  • You must be willing to pursue a full-time postgraduate program.
  • Research Skills: You should be able to analyze data statistically and independently.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team with people from different backgrounds is important.
  • Academic Requirements: You need to meet the general admission requirements set by the University of Ghana for postgraduate programs.
  • Fieldwork: You should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, including conducting research in challenging environments.
  • Research Experience (PhD): While not mandatory, having previous experience in research related to adolescent health is a plus for PhD applicants.
  • Age: Applicants under 40 years old are especially encouraged to apply.

  • Required Documents: Along with the application form, you will need to submit several documents, including:
    • A cover letter explaining why you are a good candidate for the scholarship (one page).
    • Your curriculum vitae (CV) that highlights your skills in statistical analysis and any research experience you may have.
    • A personal statement (one page for Master’s and two pages for PhD applicants). In your statement, explain why you are a good fit for the scholarship program. Briefly describe any past research or work experience related to adolescent health, your desire to pursue a career in this field, and the specific area of adolescent health you are interested in.
    • At least one letter of recommendation specifically written in support of your scholarship application. This letter should come from someone who can speak to your suitability for the program.
    • Proof that you have applied to the relevant postgraduate program at the University of Ghana.
  • Selection Process: Only shortlisted candidates who perform well in the entrance examinations will be invited for an interview.
  • Notification of Results: Successful applicants will be informed about their scholarship award by August 15, 2024.
